The National Horseracing Authority confirms that Gold Circle Racing and Gaming, represented by Mr G T Hawkins appeared before an Inquiry Board on 5 November 2015 and was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that as a result of an amendment to the programme for Event 2 at Greyville Racecourse on 23 October 2015 (Race 5 – Drakenstein Stud FM 84 Handicap (F & M), Gold Circle caused the horses in this race not to run in the registered colours of their Owners.

Mr Hawkins, on behalf of Gold Circle Racing & Gaming, pleaded guilty to the charge and Gold Circle Racing & Gaming was found guilty of the charge.

The Board, after considering a number of points in mitigation, imposed the penalty of a warning.

Gold Circle has the right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.

Ed: For background – all runners in the race in question wore pink silks with distinguishing caps for the riders. It was the highlight of the hugely successful Pinkdrive racemeeting held at Greyville on Friday 23 October.
