Gimme’s Laddie On A Possible Hat-trick

First due off @ 12h25

Fairview Racecourse plays host to an eight-race programme on the turf track this afternoon with the first due off at 12h25.

The main event on the programme is the Listed Jockey Club Stakes run over 2000m.

Hollywoodbets-sponsored Trainer Gavin Smith sends out Gimme’s Laddie in Race 4. He was super-impressive when breaking the course record over this course and distance last time.

Despite being slow into stride, he drew clear in the closing stages. The son of Gimmethegreenlight received an eight-pound penalty for that victory.

He takes another rise in class but is above average and with Craig Zackey on board, he may notch up the hat-trick.

Free World from the Duncan McKenzie stable takes her place in Race 5. She followed up her maiden victory with an encouraging fifth-place finish over 1200m on this course.

She cost herself winning that day as she hung in the final 300m. The daughter of Rafeef has plenty of scope.

If Denis Schwarz is able to keep her on a straight line alongside the inside running rail, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

There are a number of Cape horses  running at Fairview today.

Justin Snaith has just one runner in Dancingtothelight in the eighth race.  Jono Snaith says that the son of Gimmethegreenlight needed his last 1200m run, which was a respectable effort.

“He’ll love trip and has travelled smoothly to Gqeberha. He’s worth an each way bet and will be right in the mix today,” added Snaith.

Candice Bass-Robinson saddles four competitive runners today.

A spokesman for the Milnerton yard said that the Bass quartet arrived in good order yesterday.

“Piroshka ran second at Fairview on 2 August and returned to the Cape thereafter. So he was in the travelling party yesterday. Fitness wise, the work at Milnerton has been interrupted but we did have a period where work could resume,” he added.

The Sporting Post was unable to get hold of Glen Kotzen, as he was on a flight.

The Inspiring Story Of Dr Marianne Thomson

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
