geoff woodruffThe National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on Wednesday 20 March 2013, Trainer G V Woodruff was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4 in that he was the person responsible for the horse SABADELL, which ran in the 6th race run at the Turffontein Racecourse on 1 December 2012, after which a urine specimen taken from that horse disclosed upon analysis the presence of Dexamethasone, which is a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules of The National Horseracing Authority.

Mr Woodruff pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty of the charge.

The Inquiry Board imposed a penalty of a fine of R45 000.00.

Mr Woodruff has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.

Furthermore, in terms of Rule 72.3.2 SABADELL is disqualified from the 6th Race run at the Turffontein Racecourse on 1 December 2013 and the conditions of Rule 67.7.8 apply.
