Gentleman Joe – MR Appeal Dismissed

Deposit fee refunded

An independent National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) Merit Rating Appeal panel consisting of Messrs R Napier, K Miedema and J Vermaak was convened virtually on 30 November 2023.

The panel considered a Merit Rating Appeal lodged by Trainer Mr A Nel against the published adjusted merit rating of Gentleman Joe after his win at Hollywoodbets Durbanville Racecourse on 21 November 2023.

Gentleman Joe’s merit rating was adjusted from 69 to 75.

The Appeal Panel, after careful consideration, decided that Caramel Fudge was the appropriate line horse to use when rating this race.

Consequently, the Merit Rating Appeal was dismissed.

The Appeal Panel ruled that the deposit fee in relation to the Appeal be refunded.
