Geoff Woodruff’s Insignis runs in the third race.
Gavin says that the mile is the minimum range for the daughter of Go Deputy who may have needed her last when winning an Assessment Plate. “There is of improvement to come. She will be staying on. She is a lovely filly.”
Stephen Lerena saddles Samarra who runs in the fifth.
Gavin says that her form does not truly reflect her ability and that Samarra has a decent chance of finding the money.
Parisienne Chic runs in the ninth.
Gavin says that the St John Gray mare would have preferred the longer run-in offered at the Vaal. He suggests that even though she is lumping 60kgs, she is worth including and that she was all heart and tried her hardest every time she came racing.
The dark horse Mutrib runs in the tenth.
Gavin says that on the feel given him during work, the Mike de Kock 4yo did not give the impression of a one-time winner and one-time placer, and that he could prove some value for quartet inclusion.
