Gavin Is Flying Into The New Year Today

First due off @ 12h55

The first local racemeeting of 2025 takes place at Hollywoodbets Greyville on the turf track today.

Eight races are on the cards with the first due off at 12h55.

Gavin Lerena takes the ride on Flying Hafla in Race 2 (Pic – Chase Liebenberg)

Trainer Mike de Kock sends out Flying Hafla in Race 2.

She set the pace over 1900m on this course last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Pull A Fast One. The drop to 1600m is no concern.

Gavin Lerena is booked to ride, and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

Bob from the Gareth van Zyl stable takes his place in Race 4. He stayed on at the finish when sixth over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time.

The son of William Longsword should have no issues with the rise to 1800m.

He takes a drop in class and from his good draw of two, he may be the one to cause the upset.

Please note that jockey Calvin Habib is not riding today.
