Champion stallion Galileo (Sadler’s Wells) raised the bar further over the weekend when his daughter Peaceful provided him with a record eighty-fifth Gr1 victory.
With the Niarchos family’s prized filly Albigna sent off favourite but failing to run a place in the Gr1 Irish 1,000 Guineas, it was left to Peaceful to deliver trainer Aidan O’Brien with yet another 3YO Classic, a familiar outcome for her sire Galileo.
Out of stakes-winning Stravinsky mare Missvinski who placed at Gr1 level in France, Peaceful emulated the recent feat of Ballydoyle’s fellow Galileo filly Love who won the Gr1 English 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket a week earlier.
According to racingtv.com, O’Brien hasn’t ruled out sending Peaceful to the UK for a crack at the Gr1 Oaks at Epsom.
In the interim, Peaceful might also cross the Irish Sea this week for Saturday’s Gr1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. “If she came out of it [the Irish 1,000 Guineas] well you’d have to look at it, if the ground was nice there.”
