Frankel’s flying start with his first two-year-olds broke new ground on Sunday when his daughter Soul Stirring scored on her debut at Sapporo in Japan, and in the process became the first winner outside of Europe for her sire.

Trained by Kazuo Fujisawa and ridden by Christophe Lemaire, the filly was settled in the middle of the pack before making her move as the field turned for home. As the race entered its final stages she found an extra burst of speed to win by a neck.
The Shadai Farm homebred boasts a classy pedigree as her dam is none other than Stacelita, a daughter of Monsun who won six Group/Grade 1 contests during her career.
Soul Stirring is a half-sister to Southern Stars, a three-year-old daughter of Smart Strike who won a 2000m maiden at Sandown for John Gosden in April.
She is not the first offspring of Frankel to have hit the track in Japan as earlier this month the colt Rise Eagle made his debut at Chukyo, where he finished fifth.
Frankel, an eight-year-old son of Galileo who stands at Banstead Manor Stud, has made a blistering start to his stallion career having supplied eight winners in Europe including Group 3 heroine Fair Eva.
Sunday’s victory takes his tally of scorers from his first crop to nine.
