With the sun shining brightly in the Windy City, today’s Fairview Polytrack programme is bound to have regular punters back in their numbers after ‘Black Friday’ last week at the same venue produced an extraordinary half million rand plus PA payout, and carryovers in both the Bipot and the Pick 6.

The eight race card today has all the same looks of a meeting that could be life changing for the astute bettor, but there is a subtle difference to last week that is worth bearing in mind.

The Black Friday meeting was originally carded as a turf meeting and was switched to the polytrack after the turf track had been inundated with rain.

Thus many of the runners that day had limited polytrack exposure and punters were playing in the dark.

Hopefully, things will improve today and we can all get down to making some money.

The main race of the day is the R100 000 Founders Trophy (Non Black-Type) run over 1600m and the scratching of the Justin Snaith-trained Speck Of Light has left the race wide open.

However, Snaith also saddles Indian Hawk and Phumelela’s seasoned tipster Jack Milner suggests he could hold the key to this race.

This six-year-old also has a good record on this track and has won his only start over the course and distance. He ran a shocker last time but that was on the turf and should be ignored. He is well drawn at No 2 and has talented apprentice Louis Mxothwa, who cannot claim his

The Sporting Post’s top rated choice is Mitch Wiese’s Silent Partner, who has unfortunately drawn poorly at 10 but is fit and in form.

The son of Silvano ran a cracker behind Albarakah last Friday over a distance way short of his best, and looks overdue to score again.

The popular Bipot kicks off in the first race at 12h45, with the Place Accumulator running from race 2 at 13h25.

Both opening legs look tough, but the Bremner-trained Jolene (lucky saddle-cloth 13) could be worth chancing the arm on as a banker in the opener.

Our top-rated choices, and some at value prices, to guide you along:

Race 1: Jolene (13)

Race 2: Nautical Gem (2)

Race 3: Mulaazem (3)

Race 4: Sartorius (4)

Race 5: Silent Partner (3)

Race 6: Verlaine (2)

Race 7: Lady Seymour (7)

Race 8: Pemba (4)
