Fort Wood’s Strong Draft

Fort Wood

Fort Wood – 15 yearlings on offer

Former Champion sire FORT WOOD has enjoyed a fine season in 2013-2014. The son of Sadler’s Wells has been represented by six stakes performers locally this season, headed up by recent Gr1 SA Fillies Classic winner Athina.

A truly outstanding stallion, the ever-green Fort Wood is the sire of 75 individual stakes winners – of which 15 are top-flight Grade One winners. No fewer than three of Fort Wood’s sons, Celtic Grove, Dynasty and the astonishing Horse Chestnut, were named South Africa’s Horse Of The Year, while other stars sired by Fort Wood include Fort Defiance, Dog Wood, Urabamba, Wendywood, and July winner Hunting Tower.

Fort Wood, last season’s Champion Broodmare Sire, is also establishing himself as a leading sire of sires. Already sire of an outstanding sire son in Dynasty, Fort Wood is also the sire of promising younger stallions Horse Chestnut and Elusive Fort. Dynasty, Elusive Fort and Horse Chestnut are well represented at the National Sale this year.
