The first race at Turffontein is off at 12h00

Turffontein Racecourse plays host to a nine-race programme on the Inside course today.

There are four feature races including the Grade 2 TopBet Mike O’Connor Joburg Spring Challenge, Grade 2 TopBet Joburg Spring F & M Challenge, Non-Black Type Bloodstock SA Sales Cup (C & G) as well as the Non-Black Type Bloodstock SA Sales Cup (Fillies).

The first is due off at 12h00.

Hollywoodbets-sponsored trainer Stuart Pettigrew saddles Feather Boa in the Non-Black Type Blockstock SA Sales Cup (Fillies). She moved up well in her last start over 1200m on this course last time, but found one too good in the form of Orarari Gold. She won a good race in her penultimate run over this distance.

The daughter of Flower Alley is the class horse in the race and should notch up her third career victory.

Brenden James from the Fanie Bronkhorst yard may be the horse to close off the meeting. He stayed on when fifth over 1700m at the Vaal last time. He won a good race in his penultimate run over 1600m on the Standside course.

The son of Ashaawes has won once and finished second four times from as many starts over this distance. He is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
