Mayfair Speculators disposed of 19 horses in training, grossing R2 685 000 at the CRT Horses In Training & Mixed Sale at Kenilworth on Thursday.

The former SA champion owners were the major vendors at the well attended sale held at the Southern Suburbs racetrack’s parade ring.
The cold statistics don’t tell the full story as the Jooste ownership vehicle is only a part shareholder in many of the horses sold. They also had interests in some of the broodmares sold – which statistics are published separately.
This included the Gr1 winning Jet Master mare Fly By Night who sold for R1,3 million in foal to new Klawervlei sire, William Longsword.
She was bought by David Hepburn-Brown’s Hemel ‘n Aarde Stud who bought 12 lots, including multiple Graded winner Hammie’s Hooker for R800 000. The daughter of Trippi has a Gimmethegreenlight colt at foot.
Hepburn Brown topped the Horses In Training charts at R1 million for the unraced juvenile daughter of Silvano, Queen Nitocris, consigned by Bass Racing. Out of the stakes producing Kabool mare Egyptian Reign, she was originally bought by Bass Racing for R2,2 million off the 2017 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
Gauteng trainer Gokhan Terzi bought four horses, including the R6 million yearling Silver Coin, who went for a discounted R300 000.

Veteran Cape trainer Bill Prestage, a man with a keen eye, bought last Saturday’s Dynasty maiden winner Super Performer for R110 000.
