Buffalo Bill’s Back Today

First off at 12h35

One-time L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate and Sun Met prospect Buffalo Bill Cody’s return to action could be a highlight of today’s Turffontein standside meeting.

The Irish import was scratched on the eve of the 2019 Queen’s Plate with an elevated temperature and abnormal blood count and has not run for 28 weeks.

Buffalo Bill Cody

He has won his last four starts on the trot and was labelled ‘a machine’ by Mathew de Kock last year.

He is fit and well and his duel in the sixth race with Gr1 Gold Challenge runner-up Cirillo should be a fascinating one.

Anton Marcus, who was not unexpectedly visibly upset after Hawwaam’s shock withdrawal at the start of Vodacom Durban July yesterday, has been stood down on medical grounds. Robert Khathi will also not be riding today.

The false rail is set at zero on the back straight and bend with a 3,5m spur at the 700m mark.

The first race – also the Bipot opener – is off at 12h35.
