A nine race programme awaits punters at Kenilworth today under glorious blue skies on a perfect summer’s day.

There is no feature on the programme but the seventh race, a 1000m Pinnacle Stakes, is jam packed with classy sprinters, including the return of recent Gr2 Cape Merchants winner, Kasimir, who is part of a Snaith-Captain Al coupling that includes local hero, Sergeant Hardy.
The latter did not enjoy a great season up in KZN but is a different horse on the Kenilworth straight and he is as much as 6kgs better off with Kasimir after finishing 2,95 lengths behind him in the Merchants.
Trip To Heaven
The 14 horse field, with the likes of Trip To Heaven, Bold Respect and Attenborough in the ranks, can probably be labelled a trial for the Cape Flying Championships to be run on Met day, 26 January.
