Avoid The Shops – Find A Tote Rather

First off at 13h00

To shop or have a punt? Probably not the average Black Friday poser  for too many folk across South Africa today but the Fairview Friday faithful will be skipping the crowds at the shopping centres and be out in search of a bargain or three in the form of a winner on the eight race programme.

The feature is the non black-type November Stakes to be contested over 1400m.

While Tara Laing (Gr1 winning topweght Afrikaburn) and Alan Greeff (three decent runners) the value could lie with Vaughan Marshall visitor Zeb.

Tabnews reports that this six-time winner – all over 1400m – closed his KwaZulu-Natal campaign with a gutsy pillar-to-post win at the Greyville Polytrack. Then next time, when starting his five-year-old season and neglected in the betting, he ran out a clear-cut winner in a MR 88 Handicap at Durbanville.

He was not disgraced in his following outing when up in class, as he showed similar pace and was a creditable runner-up in a MR 94 Handicap over the same course and distance. Then in his subsequent outing he held form well – running on stoutly under 57.5kg at Durbanville and snatching victory in a MR 84 Handicap.

With a handy galloping weight of 55.5kg and a good inside draw, the gelding will be tough to beat over his most effective distance.

Dawnbreaker – strong front runner

A winner of 5 of his last 12 runs (all placed efforts) the powerful front galloper Dawnbreaker could surprise them all. The Trippi gelding is perfectly distance suited and is not a difficult horse to ride, by all accounts.

The Greeff trio would all have a shout with  preference for the pole position drawn Streak Of Silver, who is yet to win in PE.

The Inspiring Story Of Dr Marianne Thomson

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
