What A Field!

R1 million Gr1 L' Ormarins Queen's Plate final field announced

Going For It! Our champion sprinter What A Winter lines up in next Saturday’s Gr1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate

Fifteen runners have stood their ground for South Africa’s premier weight-for-age mile event. The R1 million Gr1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate to be run at Kenilworth on 12 January 2013 has attracted a top-class field, as it always does.

South Africa’s fastest growing horseracing event promises an afternoon of style and elegance, and outstanding horses.

Veteran Cape trainer Mike Bass has thrown the challenge to his colleagues by accepting with recent Diadem Stakes winner What A Winter. The highest rated throughbred in South Africa and our Equus Champion Sprinter has drawn five gates inside of SA Horse Of The Year Variety Club.

The sensational Var’s champion miler has the gate speed to overcome that 15 barrier gate obstacle and Joey Ramsden’s chestnut is bound to start a hot order favourite.

Top stallion Dynasty has two representatives with Justin Snaith’s brilliant perennial bridesmaid Run For It drawn at 4, while Brett Crawford’s Jackson has been less fortunate with a 13 draw. The top-class 4yo likes to run at them late and his regular pilot Karis Teetan will not be losing any sleepless nights over that supposed unlucky number.
