The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Cape Town on 7 December 2016, Jockey Corne Orffer was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.
This arose as a result that he, as the rider of LADY OF THE HOUSE, failed to ensure that the did not cause interference to other runners when he shifted inwards at about the 300m in Race 7 at Kenilworth Racecourse on 3 December 2016.
Jockey Orffer pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty of the charge.
In consideration of a penalty, the Inquiry Board took into account the degree of interference involved in the incident, his riding record and the mitigating circumstances put forward by Jockey Orffer and suspended him from riding in races for a period of 10 days.
Jockey Orffer has the Right of Appeal against the penalty.
