Fate Set To Fly Today

KZN visitor Stu Randolph's only ride on the day

Durban-based jockey Stuart Randolph makes the long trip to Cape Town today for just a single ride on the eight-race Durbanville card.

The former July winning rider takes the ride on the highest-rated runner on the card in Joey Ramsden’s top notch KRA Guineas winner, Twist Of Fate (127).

The Mauritius owned son of Master Of My Fate enjoyed an outstanding SA Champions Season, winning the local Guineas and going on to run second behind  Hawwaam in the Gr1 Daily News, third in the Vodacom Durban July and closing his 3yo campaign with a fourth-placed finish behind Rainbow Bridge in the Gr1 Champions Cup.

He returns after a 12 week break here and had a similar three month break when winning the Cape Classic last season in his first start as a 3yo.

He runs in a Pinnacle Stakes (sixth race) and is, unusurprisingly, one of the Sporting Post top-rated bets on the day. He looks unstoppable and, while draw outside of midfield, has only run unplaced once in sixteen outings and is as game as anything we have seen.

The false rail is set at 3m on the turn, with a 5m spur at approximately the 400m mark.

Former Gauteng trainer Jurgen van Heerden, who previously  trained  from a private complex near Randjesfontein, sends out his first runner from Milnerton when Africa’s Gold runs in the eighth. See the comment below.

Van Heerden trained the 2017 Gr3 Caradoc Gold Cup winner Ilitshe.
