Farewell Val Rixon

A true lady of racing

Ralph and Val Rixon – gone but not forgotten

The Woodhill Racing Team advise that it is with incredible sadness that they convey the news that Val Rixon passed peacefully in hospital this morning after a car accident a month ago at the age of 90.

Val, together with the late Ralph, was an integral part of Glen and Kathi Kotzen’s lives.

Glen worked for the Rixons for seven years and learnt not only how to be a top trainer, but also a good human being.

Ralph Rixon, a legend of the South African training ranks and the man who enjoyed such great success with the grey bomber Jamaican Music, amongst many top horses, passed away at the age of 90 in July 2022.

Once Ralph  handed the reins over to Glen, he continued to train their horses at the Woodhill Estate for many decades.

The loyalty we received from the Rixons was unwavering and we appreciate all the lessons learned and good times shared.

This is a very sad day for the Woodhill Team as we mourn the passing of an incredible woman who has now joined Ralph in eternal peace.

Our condolences are extended to Val Rixon’s family and friends at this sad time.

MHDSRIP.
