Andrew Fortune suffered a fall at Turffontein on Thursday, 13 October 2016 and has been booked off riding for two weeks.

Andrew was on board the Gary Alexander-trained Seeking Gold ahead of Turffontein’s race 3 last Thursday.  The field had gone down to the start and were ringing behind the pens when the filly reared over backwards with him.  The incident resulted in Seeking Gold being scratched by the course vet and Andrew was stood down for the rest of the day’s rides.

Fortune, who is currently lying well clear on the national jockey log and enjoying a 17% win strike rate for the season, was in characteristic high spirits when he reported earlier today, “All ok, nothing broken, thank goodness.  Just a bit sore.”  He said he will be using the time to take his new bride Ashley to Mauritius for a few days and confirmed that he expects to be back in the saddle on the 26th of October.

We wish him a speedy recovery.
