Fairview Surface Switch

Race 1 will be run over 2200m

With over 70mm of rain over the last 36 hours in Port Elizabeth, today’s Fairview meeting has been switched from the turf to the Polytrack.

According to Luciano Passerini, General Manager of Phumelela Eastern Cape, the switch was made due to unsafe underfoot conditions caused by heavy rain.

He said following a course inspection by a panel comprising trainers, stipendiary stewards and course management, it was unanimously decided to move the meeting to the Polytrack. This could result in several scratching.

Race 1 will be run over 2200m and the rest will be run over the carded distances.
