The great South African jockey championship race goes down to the wire this week as Muzi Yeni edged closer to Lyle Hewitson after a winner at Turffontein yesterday.
Hewitson now leads by three with three meetings left, but has not ridden a winner for the past three days.
The Fairview polytrack meeting this afternoon is the third last meeting of the season with Kenilworth on Tuesday and Greyville on Wednesday.
Both riders are thus riding on ‘away’ tracks, with Lyle holding 25 engagements versus Muzi’s 22.
The reigning champion has received solid support from the powerful Snaith and Bass-Robinson for his Cape raid on Tuesday.
The Fairview poly meeting starts at 12h30, with the Bipot opening leg also the first race.
A sunny afternoon is forecast, with the false rail set at 3m out at the 421m mark.
