Dawnbreaker defends feature title

Another quality weekend of racing kicks off with an eight-race programme at Fairview on the polytrack with the first race off at 12h10.

Like last year, he will be carrying 60kg and WSB has him priced up at 14/1.

He went off at 7/1 last year when Greg Cheyne was in the irons – this time Lyle Hewitson will do duty for top PE trainer Gavin Smith.

FAIRVIEW 1800 past winners:

  • 2019: Dawnbreaker
  • 2018: It Is Written
  • 2017: Stormy Eclipse

The best bet of the day comes in Race 4 in the shape of Global Drummer.

Global Drummer – top 3yo (Pic -Pauline Herman)

Bobby Bean writes that the 3yo gelding, who is a son of Global View, has won all of his starts in Port Elizabeth in fine style.

His only run out of the province was on Sun Met day and on that occasion he wasn’t disgraced behind a top sort in the form of Erik The Red.

Jockey Marco van Rensburg, who won on in him in his debut run, jumps aboard today and the pair should be extremely hard to beat.

The value bet of the day comes in Race 5 with Di Me.

This 5yo gelding is back over his favoured trip in this contest and has a good inside draw of two.
