Equus Awards Nominees 2015-2016

The stars of the 2015/16 South African horseracing season will be acknowledged and honoured  at the Equus Awards to be held at the Convention Centre, Emperors Palace, on Tuesday 16 August.

Exceptional performance on the track across the spectrum of age and sex will be the focus of the glittering  black tie event which is hosted by stakeholders representing owners, breeders and the race operators.

The Horse Of  The Year title is a prestigious and tightly contested award with a host of candidates coming into contention.

While he has not run since winning the Gr1 Premier’s Champions Challenge on Champions Day at Turffontein at end April, the Greys Inn gelding Legal Eagle must be a favourite to gallop away with the honours after winning three Gr1’s during the season.

The Equus Committee comprises  Larry Wainstein (Chairman), Clyde Basel and Graeme Hawkins while the judges panel included Andrew Harrison, Matthew Lips, Roger Smith, Jay Harrielall, Robert Garner, Graeme Hawkins, Nico Kritsiotis and Larry Wainstein (non voting chairperson).

The event is scheduled to be covered live on Tellytrack (Dstv 239).
