English Premier League

Game week 33 Preview

As the Premier League run-in continues, we’re starved of more football yet again as the FA Cup semi-final commences as well this weekend. Luckily, the fixtures are well spread out with the clash between top and bottom taking place this Friday with Southampton hosting Liverpool, while Chelsea and West Ham close proceedings with a London derby on Monday night. Despite there being just six matches in the league, there’s plenty of value on offer, so let’s dig into the action!

Friday 5 April

6/1 Southampton | Draw 36/10 | Liverpool 9/20 (21:00)
There’s been nothing but positive signs for Ralph Hasenhuttl and Southampton in recent times, with the Saints winning three of their last four encounters. Their only defeat in that run was away to Manchester United, claiming an impressive and well-deserved 2-1 win over Tottenham a fortnight ago. Liverpool are off the back of a 2-1 win over Spurs as well, but perhaps the Reds’ win was less deserving. Nevertheless, it was a superb result for Jurgen Klopp’s men that kept them there about in the title race. Liverpool have won just one of their last four Premier League outings away from Anfield, drawing three in a row before their gutsy win at Fulham. Avoid picking a result and opt for Over 2.5 Goals instead at 7/10.

Saturday 6 April

21/20 Bournemouth | 51/20 | Burnley 5/2 (16:00)
It’s been a bit of a downward spiral for Eddie Howe and Bournemouth as the Cherries’ dire run continued, losing 2-0 at Leicester City last weekend. Burnley, on the other hand, returned to winning ways with an impressive 2-0 victory over Wolves at the same time. At home, Bournemouth need to end their winless run which could stretch to four matches should they fail to beat Burnley, who were drawn back into a relegation scramble before the international break. An open game of end-to-end action is expected, with Both Teams to Score tipped at 13/20.

15/10 Newcastle | 22/10 | Crystal Palace 39/20 (16:00)
Newcastle return to St. James’ Park where they have picked up a massive five wins on the trot. In that run, the Magpies’ most impressive result undoubtedly came against Manchester City, who they beat 2-1 in their backyard. Crystal Palace have been doing much better on the road this season, playing on the counter which has benefitted their play under Roy Hodgson. Still, it might not be enough to get a result at Newcastle, who have been brilliant on home soil. Back the home win here at a valuable 15/10.

36/10 Huddersfield | 26/10 | Leicester City 15/20 (16:00)
Huddersfield’s relegation was confirmed last weekend as the Terriers suffered a 2-0 defeat against Crystal Palace, while the results involving Burnley and Southampton couldn’t swing in their favour. That’s now four losses in a row for the bottom-placed side, while their opponents, Leicester City, have been in rampant form. The Foxes have won three matches in a row now and will be licking their lips as they prepare for this fixture. Get on the away win.

Sunday 7 April

22/10 Everton | 26/10 | Arsenal 23/20 (15:05)
In arguably the toughest game to call of the weekend, Everton host Arsenal this Sunday at Goodison Park. The hosts claimed their second win on the spin in an impressive 2-0 victory at West Ham last weekend. Arsenal are in the running to return to the Champions League after a two-year absence, with the run-in fully in their favour as Unai Emery’s men face no more of the big six in the league. Last season, Arsenal scored five in each meeting against Everton, including a 5-2 win at Goodison Park. Perhaps the away win at 23/20 could be worth taking for a straightforward Gunners win here.

Monday 8 April

4/10 Chelsea | 17/4 | West Ham 13/2 (21:00)
Premier League action concludes with a cagey all-London affair as West Ham travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea. The Blues returned to winning ways in controversial fashion against Cardiff, but nonetheless, job done, with Maurizio Sarri’s men closing the distance between themselves and Spurs. West Ham are winless in six league encounters away from the London Stadium, losing five times, scoring just once in that run. The term ‘banker’ wouldn’t be fair considering Chelsea’s form, but anything but a win for the Blues would come as a massive surprise. Get on the home win.

TREBLE @ 5/1
Southampton vs Liverpool Over 2.5 Goals 7/10
Newcastle Win 15/10
Chelsea Win 4/10
