Another Exciting Week for Dupont

I wrote about how well Dupont was doing right after Magico won the Gr3 Tommy Hotspur Handicap 3 weeks ago and someone commented to me at the Cape Sale recently “what about the others?” what about the others indeed!

Since Magico’s win 3 weeks ago Dupont has accounted for the winners of 6 races, 5 have been placed 2nd and 2 more have been placed 3rd. In the past week alone his 5 runners have either won or been placed 2nd. On Wednesday the 2yo colt Depardieu won first time and 2nd in that race was another son of Dupont, Dupont Circle.

What’s interesting about his runners this past week is that his winners were over 1200m (Depardieu) and 1600 (The Gary Player bred filly, Pointing’s Odds). The 3 runner places 2nd were over 1000m, 1200m and 1900m.

10 of his most recent runners took home a stakes cheque. I have heard from at least 3 horsemen that have the progeny of this sire in their care that they are excited about what they have seen and will be racing them soon. No question in my mind that there is much more to come from this dual Guineas wining son of Zafonic. He has a really interesting pedigree and we are going to have a lot of fun with him in future.

As we’ve said so often in the past “watch this space” – we branded Dupont a good value for money sire and he has not let us down. I can kick myself for letting that great looking colt at the Cape Yearling Sales get away from me.

Congratulations to the winning and placed connections. Thank you for your support in Dupont, we hope that he continues to reward you with many more wins.
