The Emerald Cup at the Vaal on Saturday will be shown live on Supersport from 15h30 and is billed as an amazing day out for the entire family.
Extremely popular amongst race goers are the family picnic areas, situated next to the racetrack and close to the entertainment stage where Lonehill Estate, Daniel Baron and Lloyd Cele will be performing. Included in the star line-up will be Matthew Mole and resident DJ Vin Deysel.
“Not only are the adults catered for, but the kids are too,” says Marli Wolmarans, Media and PR Manager at Emerald Resort & Casino. A cordoned off area, that contains a multitude of activities, is specifically arranged for the young ones, ensuring that they are well looked after and safe.”
As the day’s last horse race draws to a close and as tradition dictates, the popular groom’s race will be the last event of the Cup. Run over a distance of 1600m, the groom’s race is open to all registered grooms in Gauteng, but is limited to the first 40.
Emerald Resort & Casino sponsors the R15 000 prize money for the first five places.
Entrance is free and gates open at 11h00. To take advantage of the picnic sites, contact 011 681 1702. The cost of R1700 for ten people is fully inclusive but excludes beverages.
