The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry which was finalised in Port Elizabeth on 29 April 2021, Jockey Eldin Webber was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.
The particulars being that as the rider of CAPE BATIS, in Race 3 at Fairview Racecourse on 25 January 2021, he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of CHAI, which resulted in that horse having to be checked, losing position at the 1800m.
Jockey Webber pleaded guilty to the charge.
The Inquiry Board accepted his plea and found Jockey Webber guilty as charged.
After considering all the evidence, the Inquiry Board imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days.
Jockey Webber waived his Right of Appeal and was granted permission to take his suspension from 1 May 2021 to 7 May 2021, both days inclusive.
