The Listed Jockey Club Stakes run at Fairview this afternoon is the 3rd Leg of the East Cape Fillies and Mares Challenge.

Weights are framed with 5 year-olds and older allotted 56 kgs, 4 year-olds 55 kgs and 3 year-olds 50 kgs.
Penalties accrue for stakes wins – winners of Gr1 races getting 4kg for each such win, Grade 2 winners get 3kg, Grade 3 race wins attract a 2kg penalty and Listed races 1kg.
R700 000 was set aside by Phumelela for the East Cape Filies & Mares Challenge, a series of three races.
Besides the total stake monies of R450 000 on offer, a Challenge bonus of R250 000 was offered to the horse who could win all three races.
The now retired Star Burst Galaxy won the first leg, the East Cape Breeders Stakes run over 1200m on Friday 29 June.
A likely favourite to win today, Beataboutthebush won the second leg, the R150 000 East Cape Paddock Stakes run over a mile on Friday 20 July. That was her second consecutive victory in the race.
