The urban legend of the Durbanville draw hoodoo took a bit of a knock on a sunny spring afternoon at the Cape’s country course on Saturday.

While Brett Crawford and stable jockey Corne Orffer made hay with a hat-trick of winners, the winner barrier gate statistics knocked the axiom of the apparent ‘waste of time’ of running a horse from an average draw.

Race 1 – draw 7 of 14 won over 1200m.

Race 2 – draw 11 of 12 won over 1200m.

Race 3 – draw 9 of 13 won over 1200m.

Race 4 – draw 6 of 11 won over 2000m.

Race 5 – draw 9 of 10 won over 1600m.

Race 6 – draw 10 of 10 won over 1600m.

Race 7 – draw 4 of 8  won over 1400m.

Race 8 – draw 4 of 10 won over 1200m.

Race 9 – draw 1 of 12 won over 1200m.
