Duke Of Marmalade (Danehill-Love Me True) arrives at Drakenstein Stud

Duke of Marmalade has arrived at Drakenstein Stud.

The European Champion Older Horse of 2008, and 5 time Group 1 winning son of the late Champion Sire, Danehill, out of the Group placed Love Me True, was an exceptional racehorse with a Timeform rating of 132. His 5 consecutive Gr1 wins included triumphs included a four length romp in the Gr1 Prince of Wales Stakes, the Gr1 Prix Ganay, Gr1 King George, Gr1 Tattersalls Gold Cup and Gr1 Juddmonte International.

Among the stars defeated by Duke Of Marmalade during his racing career were the likes of New Approach (Epsom Derby), Ask (Coronation Cup), Sixties Icon (St Leger), Finsceal Bio (Champion Filly), Zambezi Sun (Grand Prix de Paris), and Darjina (French 1000 Guineas).

From a great family (whose members include champion sires A P Indy, Al Mufti and Raja Baba), Duke Of Marmalade is a half-brother to 2013 Gr1 Investec Derby winner Ruler Of The World.

At stud, Duke Of Marmalade was European Champion 2nd Crop sire by Stakes winners in 2013, and is currently the leading 3rd crop sire in the Northern Hemisphere by stakes winners, which include the recent dual Gr3 winner, and multiple Gr1 placed Venus De Milo, Gr3 So Many Shots and Gr3 Wannabe Better. Duke Of Marmalade currently has 25 stakes horses from his first 2 crops to race.

His first year fee has been set at R100 000.
