Dream Windfall For Verulam Player

R2 325 000 for a terrific selection all the winners!

A 47 year old Verulam-based father of one has made history by becoming the first player to bank the progressive jackpot prize in the popular free-to-enter Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge.

When Anton Marcus steered Evening Primrose to victory in the final race at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday, Revash (his player name) banked R2 325 000 – his biggest win in a lifetime of playing the horses.

He had not heard the result when the Sporting Post called him.

“You are serious? I can’t believe it, I really can’t” he added emotionally with his wife shouting for joy in the background.

How did he do it?

“I played my fancies and was unsure of the last three races. So I selected the saddlecloth 4 – my favourite number and things went for me! I cannot get over what you are telling me!”

In the second race, Revash’s selection Corner Crusade was scratched. In terms of the rules, he was allocated the tote favourite Crazy Blues.

Revash said that he will use the very welcome cash windfall to settle his fruit & vegetable business debts after a pressured time and will then think about the future.

He thanked Hollywoodbets for all they do for racing and the punter and said that words eluded him in the moment. We left him to celebrate with his family.

The Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge is a free to play tipping competition, requiring players to select one horse from each of the carded races on a KZN race day.

Players receive points depending on where their selection finishes in a race, and how many actual runners there are in a race.

Therefore, in a twelve-horse race, 1st position will receive 12 points, 2nd position 11 points, 3rd position 10 points, all the way down to last position with 1 point. In a seven-horse race, 1st position will receive 7 points, 2nd position will receive 6 points, and so on.

Bonus points are awarded for winning selections, where the Hollywoodbets Starting Price (SP) for that horse will be added to the points awarded. If the winning horse’s SP is 4/1 for example in a race, then an additional 5 points (4 + 1) will be added to the points earned. In the above twelve-horse race example the winning selection would have 17 points awarded (12 plus 5 bonus points).
