All the weekend feature ratings adjustments

The National Horseracing Authority handicappers have released their feature ratings from the past weekend.

  • Gr2 World Sports Betting 1900

DO IT AGAIN remains unchanged on a merit rating of 126 following his success in the Gr2 World Sports Betting 1900 over 1900m on the turf track at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday 14 May.

The Handicappers were unanimously of the view that runner-up MOUNT ANDERSON made for the best line horse, especially as in rating the race this way 3rd placed GAINSFORD also runs to his mark and effectively becomes a line horse as well.

As such, MOUNT ANDERSON and GAINSFORD remain unchanged on marks of 104 and 99, respectively, and in rating the race this way DO IT AGAIN only runs to a mark of 124.  Hence there was no change to the winner’s rating.

The only ratings increase was for 5th placed LITIGATION, who goes up from 99 to 101.  The solitary drop was for TRISTFUL, who is down from 112 to 110.

  • Listed KRA East Coast Cup

SHE’S A KEEPER remains unaltered on a rating of 115 following her success on highly favourable weight terms in the Listed East Coast Cup for fillies and mares over 2000m at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday.

The Handicappers took the view that 5th placed KEEP ON DANCING and 6th placed LA LUVIA made for the best line horses here, which leaves them unchanged on marks of 94 and 84, respectively.  In assessing the race this way, 8th finisher AQUAE SULIS runs to her mark of 87, effectively making her a line horse as well and leaving her rating unchanged.  In assessing the race this way, SHE’S A KEEPER only runs to a mark of 107, hence her unchanged rating.

There were ratings increases for 2nd placed PRINCESS ANASTASIA, who goes up from 81 to 90, for 3rd placed SILVER MARIA, who is up from 80 to 88, and for 4th finisher SCENTED MISTRESS, who goes from 90 to 94.

The only drop was for ONLY THE BRAVE, who is down to 85 from 87.

  • Listed WSB East Cape Derby

CHOLLIMA has had his rating raised slightly from 89 to 90 following his win in the Listed WSB East Cape Derby over 2400m on the Fairview turf course on Friday 13 May.

The Handicappers were of the view that runner-up PEACE IN OUR WORLD made for the best line horse here, leaving him unchanged on a rating of 90 (bearing in mind that he carried 1 kg more than the winner in terms of the race conditions.)

3rd placed TOP QUALITY was raised from 78 to 86, while 6th finisher ALMIGHWAAR was picked up from 68 to 74 to at least make him the equal of the 74-rated 7th placed FUTURISMO, whom he beat at level weights.  There was also an increase for WAR MAN, who is up from 67 to 70.

The only ratings drop was for THIS GENERATION, who is down from 73 to 71.

  • Listed Syringa Handicap 

ULULATE has had her rating raised from 92 to 96 after she captured the Listed Syringa Handicap for fillies and mares over 1600m on the Turffontein inside track on Sunday 15 May.

The Handicappers were of the opinion that 3rd placed ROUGE ALLURE made for the most suitable line horse, leaving her unchanged on a mark of 94.

There were increases also for runner-up HOMELY GIRL, who is up from 103 to 104, and for 4th placed FLORENTINE, who was 2kgs or 4 pounds under sufferance at the weights and who goes up from 86 to 89.

Three horses were given a rating’s drop.  NOW YOU SEE ME is down from 90 to 88, while VICTORIA PAIGE received the identical drop and also goes from 90 to 88.  There was also a drop for PRETTY BETTY, who is down from 100 to 94.
