Dividend Error – PGI Will Absorb Loss

System setting leads to grossly inflated dividend

An incorrect quartet dividend of R2 614 665-90 on the fourth race on Saudi World Cup Day on Saturday 26 February 2022 was rectified – but only after a punter collected eight times more than he should have.

A wide awake Sporting Post reader queried the massive quartet dividend after the pool on the race was only in the region of R322 000.

A spokesperson for TAB has since confirmed that an incorrect payout of R2 614 665-90 was declared, instead of R297 216-20.

The racemeeting from Riyadh was resulted and audited by Premier Gateway International  (PGI) and not TAB.

The incorrect payout apparently came about because a PGI system setting overrode the correct dividend as a result of a fractional winner in South Africa.

The small fractional winner was a TAB retail customer who cashed the winning ticket and collected some eight times more than should have been the case.

Due to it being their error, we are informed that PGI will make good the loss.
