Tragedy struck in Sunday’s Singapore Gold Cup when 2015 Dingaans and Cape Guineas winner Noah From Goa broke down in the straight and had to be euthanased.
Tabnews reported that Diane De Kock posted the following tribute on Twitter.
Di de Kock – “The earth would be nothing without the people, but the man would be nothing without the horse”. This is a sad day that we had to say good bye to our Noah from Goa. I loved you from the day I broke you in. Fly high in the sky boy ????
The former Mike de Kock star was trained by SA born Singapore trainer Ricardo Le Grange who had already posted a win in the country in August with him.
A R325 00 National 2yo Sale purchase, the Wilgerbosdrift Stud-bred Noah From Goa was a son of the ill-fated Tiger Ridge out of the five-time winning Fort Wood mare, Limerick.
As for the race itself, trainer Mark Walker and jockey Benny Woodworth teamed up to claim their first Singapore Gold Cup, thanks to Elite Invincible.
The Irish-bred four-year-old by Archarcharch overcame an interrupted prep (due to a fever) towards the $1.35 million Group 1 Dester Singapore Gold Cup (2000m) with a bold and unexpected on-pace run that saw him stave off a gallant Circuit Land (Ruan Maia) by a head and send trainer and jockey into raptures.
