De Melo At Turffontein Today

The first is off at 12h00

Racing takes place on the Turffontein Inside course this afternoon and nine races are carded. The first is due off at 12h00 with the lucky last set for 16h40.

Keagan de Melo (Pic – Candiese Lenferna)

Homely Girl from the Johan Janse van Vuuren yard takes her place in Race 4. She was given a peach of a ride when winning the Grade 2 East Coast Radio Tibouchina Stakes last time.

She raced from a handy position, found another kick and rallied late. She has finished second in both her attempts on this course. The daughter of Querari returns from a well-deserved 13-week break and if not in need of the run, she should notch up her fourth career victory.

Grant Maroun saddles Twice As Wild in Race 9 and she may be the one to close off the meeting. She finished 1.3 lengths behind Irrevocable Dream last time.

She is 5kgs better off at the weights which is enough for the tables to be turned. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1500m and should give the males a run for their money.
