In a shock announcement, the Sporting Post has learnt that National Horseracing Authority Racing Control Executive David McGillivray has tendered his resignation and will leave the service of the body on 31 January 2015.
McGillivray joined the NHA Management team as Racing Control Executive on 1 March 2013.
He had worked previously for the NHA for some 11 years, which included spells as Chairman of both the Central Provinces and the Western Cape Stipendiary Boards.
He also worked in Malaysia and Singapore for 14 years in a number of Stipendiary roles including the senior position of Professional Racing Steward.
McGillivray proved an innovative breath of fresh air introducing numerous controls and adding impetus to service delivery in various areas at the NHA.
He was also a refreshingly transparent source of information for the media – an area in which the NHA has never covered itself in glory.
It is believed that he will be taking up a position overseas.
“I have enjoyed my time here and have done my best to make a significant contribution to Racing Control, however I have decided to leave for personal reasons,” said McGillivray.
