South African horseracing media legend Dave Mollett goes under the knife today for his second knee replacement surgery in a year.
The straight-shooting and much loved Molly, now in his 69th year, hopes to be back on the track for Classic Day on 2 April and was typically full of positivity this past weekend when he spoke to Sporting Post.
“Wear and tear comes with age and we have to accept these things as part of life. My good mates Paul Lafferty and Nico Kritsiotis received a blow at a much younger age, so I am very fortunate in many ways. I must thank so many people for the good wishes and offers of support received. That is the character of this very tough but wonderful industry,” he said.
In view of the fact that Molly is a contracted employee, he receives no remuneration for his time on the sidelines and recently made an appeal for assistance.
The contact person for the Molly Knee Fund is Linda and her e-mail is [email protected]

We wish Molly well.
