South African horseracing media legend Dave Mollett has been discharged from hospital after two operations and an arduous eleven days of intensive care.
Molly went under the knife earlier this month for his second knee replacement surgery in a year.
His daughter Jade told the Sporting Post that the family were thrilled to have the old man home.
“My Dad was in for 11 days with two ops so he’s not exactly a happy chappie. But he is a real war horse and he says that he is also a Yorkshireman and will pull through it all and bounce back,” she said.
Now in his 69th year, Molly originally hoped to be back on the track for Classic Day on 2 April and after Abashiri’s smashing victory on Saturday, he is not the only one who will be booking a seat at Turffontein.
As a contracted employee, Molly receives no remuneration for his time on the sidelines and recently made an appeal for assistance, from anybody who is willing and able to.
The response thus far has been positive, hardly surprise as there are few more popular and knowledgeable men in the game.
