CTS Chairman Chris van Niekerk announced a brand new sales incentive on Saturday evening.
CTS has joined forces with KUDA Insurance to create a new sales race for juveniles on the newly launched Sun Met day on 28 January 2017.
In addition to the existing two $500 000 CTS sales races – one over 1200m and the other over 1600m – the sales company and KUDA Insurance will jointly be offering a R1 million stake for a 1200m juvenile contest as the 13th race on the Sun Met card.
CTS Chairman Chris van Niekerk, was quick to point out that the new ’13th race’ was open to equine runners only and will accommodate a final field of 20 runners, with entry exclusively eligible to graduates of the 2016 Lanzerac CTS Ready To Run Sale as well as the forthcoming 2016 Emperors Palace CTS Ready To Run Sale.
Qualification will be based on a points system and with 27 juvenile races programmed between now and Met Day, it is believed there are sufficient suitable opportunities for candidates to qualify. He added that if, for any reason, the field does not fill, candidates will be chosen by lucky draw.
Van Niekerk, who also holds the position of Chairman of Kenilworth Racing said, “We are very excited to be able to offer this as it allows our industry to see more juveniles early in the year. We want to see our juvenile races packed. Rather than 4 or 5 horses per race, we want to see 12, 15 or 18 runners per race – and we feel this will help with what we’re trying to achieve.”
