Leading South African Stallion Manager John Freeman says that the Cape Thoroughbred Sales Million Dollar sale race is going to be a big hit with buyers. Freeman has been a leader in his field for 37 years and knows a winner when he sees one.

Writing in the Freeman Stallions newletter, eNews, Freeman joined a growing chorus of approval for the stunningly well endowed sales race concept.

I attended the Cape Thoroughbred Sales media launch in Johannesburg  on Wednesday night. These guys certainly know how to hit home runs and make big news. Who better to present this big news than CTS’ affable Chairman Chris van Niekerk, a regular visitor to the big race winner’s box.

Passion for racing and huge investment, both on his own and in partnership with other luminaries in our industry, have this player always looking for bigger and better.

I served on a selection panel for the Cape Sale catalogues earlier this week and enjoyed the privilege that it provided in the form of a sale preview. Breeders have taken this new event to heart; the catalogue for January 2014 is a knock-out!

Having already linked a R2m race to their Ready To Run Sale, innovative CTS (backed by powerful and passionate players like Messrs Jooste and Kantor et al) will no doubt come up with more value-added sales promo’s in future.

I bet breeders who didn’t nominate to CTS’ two yearling sales in 2014 are going to be chomping at the bit about this news – it’s bound to be a big hit with buyers.

I see huge future potential for this new race day. Perhaps in time they will allow one of the big Cape Gr1 races to move to their day and there may even be a place for my personal dream – a really big race for the progeny of Cape Stallions!

Well done CTS – our industry is well served by your forward thinking and unlimited ambition. I hope that one of my clients takes the big prize. We will certainly be aiming for it!
