BBP Syndicate Quintet Selling In Absentia

Newsflash - CTS Mare and Mixed Sale

Cape Thoroughbred Sales (CTS) advises buyers that five of nine lots offered by the BBP Syndicate at the 2021 CTS Mare and Mixed Sale on Thursday, 20 May, will be sold in absentia.

The live sale will be staged at De Grendel Estate.

Grant Knowles, Bloodstock and Marketing Director of CTS, explained:

“Three mares and two weanlings from the BBP Syndicate will not be coming to the live sale, but they will be available for viewing at Klawervlei Stud ahead of the sale, and will be passed through the ring at De Grendel as if they were there. We will also be publishing their photos and videos on the CTS website.

“The mares are Lot 28 (Entrench, by Oasis Dream), Lot 74 (Secret Of Victoria by Goldkeeper), Lot 82 (The Secret Is Out, by Captain Al) and the weanlings are
Lot 96 (William Longsword colt out of Entrench) and Lot 109 (William Longsword colt out of Secret Of Victoria).”

Basil Nelson, who formed the BBP Syndicate with the late Garth Miller in 2004, commented:

“Garth and I formed the syndicate in 2004, and it brought us much joy, especially with Secret Of Victoria being such a successful broodmare. We are selling the BBP lots to dissolve the partnership between myself and the heirs of the Miller estate, and I will be continuing with the syndicate after the sale. John Koster kindly agreed to make the mares and weanlings available for viewing at Klawervlei. Secret Of Victoria is 18 years old, and in foal to Vercingetorix, so we didn’t want her and the other mares to travel.”
