With Spring well and truly in the air, the final countdown has begun to this year’s R2.5m Lanzerac Ready to Run sale.

To be held at the Durbanville racecourse on Saturday and Sunday, the 181 lots began arriving daily this week while official proceedings are set to get under way tomorrow 2nd of October at 9am with all horses set to strut their stuff in the gallops followed by the sale itself on Saturday the 4th & Sunday the 5th.

Since last year’s inaugural winner Captain America, this sale has gone from strength to strength. While this year’s prize money will remain at a very tidy R2mil, CTS announced last week that the horses to be sold at this weekend’s sale will race next year for a stakes increase of R500k taking the prize money to a very attractive R2.5mil.

As if the stakes increase wasn’t enough, there’s also a few other incentives to be found in this catalogue that prospective buyers may not be aware of.

There are a number of horses that were purchased at this year’s CTS Premier and March book 2 sale entered in this year’s sale that effectively means as well as being eligible to run in the R2.5m Lanzerac Ready to Run race in 2015, they’re also paid up and eligible for the CTS US$1mil race in January 2016. A double whammy of note!

In addition, approved Buyers will be able to take advantage of ninety day interest fee terms to secure their purchases as well as a plethora of technology available to assist them in making their selections with live streams, gallops on demand and replay kiosks on site.

This year’s sale features 47 different stallions from both home and abroad including “Freshman Sires” Bankable (2) Great Britain (6) Rock of Rochelle (8) and exciting new Summerhill sire Visionaire (3) as well as overseas sires Archipenko (1) Domesday (1) and Henrythenavigator (1)

From a home grown perspective, the ever reliable sires in Var (7) Silvano (4) and Dynasty (2) will all have their admirers as will emerging sire Lateral (5) the last of the Western Winters (2) and of course the sire of last year’s winner Captain America, the perennial Captain Al (9)

All reports are that this year’s catalogue has some outstanding individuals with a healthy cross section of local and overseas pedigrees on offer and something to appeal to everyone.

If you have a tablet or smart phone don’t forget you can download the catalogue free from the equineline.com app that has some great features and very useful tools to assist Buyers in finding their next champion.

For more information, go to capethoroughbredsales.com or drop into the sales office at Durbanville racecourse.

With only 181 lots and R2.5m in stakes it looks to be a smart bet!
