The 2022 CTS Farm Yearling Sale will be held on Sunday, 19 June at a new venue, Kenilworth Racecourse, four days after this year’s CTS Farm Sale Race to be run at the same venue.
The CTS Mare and Weanling Sale will be held on Friday, 24 June.
Grant Knowles, MD of CTS, confirmed that 105 quality entries had been received for the Farm Yearling Sale. “The Catalogue is available online, and hard copies will be available later this week.”
Graduates of the 2022 Sale will qualify for the three sales races scheduled for 2023. They will be staged in three centres, and the stake for each race will be a minimum of R200 000. This will enable buyers from upcountry to participate with their runners in their respective home centres.
Despite being a relatively young sale on the South African thoroughbred industry calendar, the Farm Sale has already produced its fair share of stars – notable past graduates include 2021 Durban July and 2022 Cape Met winner Kommetdieding (a R55 000 buy), Equus Champions Edict Of Nantes (winner of the Gr1 Cape Derby), and the now successful and sought-after stallion, Captain Of All, sire of another Gr1 Cape Derby and Gr1 Daily News winner, Linebacker.
One of the notable graduates of the 2021 Sale is recent Gr3 Cape Nursery winner We’re Jamming, who was snapped up for only R15 000 by trainer Piet Steyn and has already earned R226 000 after just four starts. He has subsequently been sold to Snaith Racing for an undisclosed amount.
