Trainer Joe Soma believes that the forthcoming CTS Emperors Palace Johannesburg Ready To Run Sale to be held at Randjesfontein will offer buyers good value opportunities.
He said: “We’re in a buyer’s market and as I always say – if you do your homework you will find the right horse. There will be a horse for everyone here, and probably at excellent value too.”

Soma has pre-trained four two-year-olds on behalf of clients for this sale under the stable’s banner “Owner’s Choice” and he said:
“We’ve spelled horses for the sales a few times before, it’s always nice to do and we’ve learnt some. We’ve had four nice ones with us for several weeks. They came all woolly at the end of winter and they’ve furnished nicely and are looking good.”
Danish Silver – has a half brother (#29) on the sale
The first is an unnamed Biarritz colt from Belle Petite (Lot 29), who is herself a half-sister to Danish Silver. “
This is a nice big, strong colt who has lots of improvement to come, he’s done nice half-pace work. He’s a horseman’s pick, one that will take three to six months to come to hand but will reward his owner,” said Soma.
The Biarritz filly in the group (Lot 207), is not as big as the colt. She is more petite and will “come early”, according to Soma. “She moves well, will be able to race within a month or two and could give her owner a quick return.”
Stay With Me (Lot 132) is a colt by Count Du Bois from Marthley (AUS) by Capote. “He’s very leggy, this one, and runs with a beautiful action. I think he will be one of the outstanding gallopers at this sale,” Soma assessed.
The fourth is a Seventh Rock filly from Wild Swan (Lot 11) and Soma said this one was a “typical Seventh Rock” with strong hindquarters who should develop into a decent type of horse. “She is well-related, from the immediate family of Futura,” he noted.
The R2R gallops take place at Randjesfontein on 21 November from 11am, the sale itself on 24 and 25 November at the same venue, starting at 6pm both days.
