Trainer Vaughan Marshall has confirmed that his star 3yo One World will run in the R5 million CTS 1600 on Sun Met day.
The son of Captain Al ran a very creditable third when beaten 1,75 lengths by Mike de Kock’s now dual Gr1 winning Aussie import Soqrat and Cape Classic winner Twist Of Fate in Saturday’s Gr1 Cape Guineas.
Winner of the Listed Langerman last term.and more recently the Gr2 Concorde Cup, Saturday’s third placing was One World’s first defeat in six starts.
Initially thought to be a surprising omission from the illustrious L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate entry of eleven received on Tuesday, Milnerton-based Vaughan Marshall told the Sporting Post that the intention had never been to run the Klawervlei bred athlete in the prestigious weight-for-age mile.
One World is out of the UK placed Aquilonia (Giant’s Causeway) and cost R425 000 on the Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
The CTS 1600 is restricted to eligible graduates of the Cape Premier Yearling Sale held on 21 and 22 January 2017, the CTS March Yearling Sale held on 18 and 19 March 2017 and the Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale held on 21 April 2017.
