The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa confirms that at an inquiry held in Durban on Tuesday, 18 February 2025, Jockey Sean Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M in Appendix E on use of the crop).

The particulars being that he misused his crop by striking UZWANO more than twelve times (17) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race, during Race 5, at Hollywoodbets Scottsville Racecourse on 2 February 2025.
Jockey Veale pleaded guilty and was found guilty as charged.
The Inquiry Board, after considering the mitigating factors presented, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven days and a fine of R20 000 (twenty thousand rand).
Jockey Sean Veale waived his Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed and is suspended from riding in races from 20 February 2025 – 26 February 2025 (both days inclusive).
