Crop – Veale Gets A Week

Has Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 16 March 2022, Jockey Sean Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 read with Guideline (m) on the use of the crop.

The particulars being that he hit WORD FOR WORD more than 12 times with his crop in Race 2 at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on 7 March 2022.

Jockey Veale pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty as charged.

National Horseracing Authority

The Inquiry Board after considering Jockey Veale’s recent record in relation to this Rule and having taken into account the mitigating factors presented, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 7 days.

Jockey Veale has the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
