Competitive Vaal Card Today

The Pick 6 starts in the fourth at 13h10

After a thrilling meeting at Turffontein this past weekend, racing heads back to the Vaal on the Classic course.

It looks to be a competitive card and caution is advised. It will be an early start to the day with the first race off at 11h40 and the programme closing at 16h25.

The following jockeys are not riding today – Randall Simons, K Fisher, Cole Dicken, Nathan Klink and Warren Kennedy.

Jimmy The Rich writes that Sea Ways in Race 2 looks to be the best bet on the card. The son of Ashaawes has run three good races to date.

He lost a length at the start last time, but stayed on well at the business end. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He makes his course debut this afternoon and if not too green, he should be the one to beat.

Kings Archer could give the Stuart Pettigrew stable a double on the day. He ran a good race in a competitive field over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time.

He finished second in his only start over this course and distance.

The 9yo horse has not lost his zest for racing and if repeating that effort today, he should go one better in this field.

The false rail is set at 3m on the back straight, 6m on the bend and with a 5m spur at the 800m mark,

  • The Bipot starts in the second at 12h10
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the third at 12h40
  • The Pick 6 starts in the fourth at 13h10
  • Jackpot 1 starts in the fifth race at 13h50
  • Jackpot 2 starts in the sixth race at 14h25
