Cliff Top Has The Edge Today

First race is off at 12h35

Racing has been moved from the turf track to the polytrack at Fairview Racecourse this afternoon.

Eight races are carded and the main event is the Listed East Cape Breeders Stakes.

The first is due off at 12h35.

There is a R250 000 Jackpot 1 carryover which is expected to get to R1 million.

Cliff Top from the Alan Greeff stable takes his place in Race 6 and he is the possible Pick 6 banker. He was super-impressive when winning the Non-Black Type Fairview Flying Five last time.

The talented Cliff Top looks the banker in the Pick 6 (Pic – Pauline Herman)

He showed good speed, found another kick and drew clear of the opposition. He returns from a well-deserved 11-week break. Despite his big mass of 62kgs, he should notch up his sixth career victory.

Trainer Tara Laing saddles Waiting For Summer in the lucky last. He showed some signs of a form return in his last start over 1800m on the turf.

The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The son of Noble Tune has dropped to a competitive rating and takes a drop-in class. In this field, he is capable of returning to winning ways.

There are a number of scracthings on the card – please check the websites,

  • The Bipot starts in the first race at 12h35
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the second race at 13h10
  • The Pick 6 starts in the third race at 13h50
  • The first Jackpot starts in the fourth race at 14h25
  • The second Jackpot starts in the fifth race at 15h00
